Expectations are the root of dissatisfaction

So, I had this ephiphany this week. I was wondering: Why do different people respond to dissapointing circumstances, let downs and unexpected inconveniences so differently? What causes people to lose their temper when something crappy happens? I've decided, it's all how you look at the situation. Here's a checklist on how to know in what ways you can lower your own expectations and set yourself up for success.
How much do you expect from yourself and others?
Do you set yourself up for dissapointment with too high of expectations?
Do you decide in advance that if your entire day's plans fall apart, that you're still going to decide to enjoy your day?
Do you accept that you can't really rely on anyone in your life expect maybe your own flesh and blood, and sometimes even not them?
Do you show sincere to your friends, family, teachers, and most of all-Heavenly Father for every blessing, tender mercy, and thing that DOESN'T fall apart in your life?

  1. this is so true. though that's not to say that all expectations are harmful, but there are some that we just really need to do away with.
